Camp ArtSeen in Review

I just got back from Camp ArtSeen.

IMG_6222This was the road I drove on to get to camp, located in the Northern California Redwoods.

Our three day weekend began with a group gathering for a few interactive games (not everyone’s shown here). This was awesome, and by the end, we were comfortable with each other and good to go with our remaining adventures.

One of three workshops I participated in was with Amy Berk, who led us on a walk through the woods. We were off to talk about Andy Goldsworthy and then create an installation in nature in smaller groups. Can I just say, Amy’s workshop took me back to what I miss most from being in a college art course. It was an opportunity to dig into the concepts behind the making of art, then process what we saw, felt, and thought about what each of us made. I loved every minute of it!

Camp ArtSeen is organized by Loretta Bozung, an artist, and educator with a MFA from Berkeley, no wonder this was such a quality event.  Everyone I met at camp was interested in art. There were three fantastic workshops, mural painting with San Francisco based Kelly Ording, yoga, creative writing with Suze Allen, group meals, and a guest lecture by, painter, Bob Nugent, that was VERY  inspiring.

Camp ArtSeen is organized by Loretta Bozung, an artist and educator with an MFA from Berkeley; no wonder this was such a quality event.  Everyone I met at camp was interested in art. In addition to the workshop with Amy Berk on “Working In The Woods” that I already mentioned, there were two other fantastic workshops: mural painting with San Francisco based Kelly Ording and creative writing with Suze Allen. Yoga, group meals, and an inspiring guest lecture by painter Bob Nugent. I’m very much looking forward to 2016 Camp ArtSeen. If you have any specific questions about this event, contact Loretta at fun@campartseen.com.

If you’re considering a group to reboot your creative practice or want to dip into the art world with other creative professionals, I highly recommend this retreat. Again, you don’t have to be artist to feel comfortable here, however you will be on the inside of a creative happening with a fine arts vibe.
