Ruth Chase

Becoming A Better Sinner
October 4 — 12, 2014

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 4, 1-4 PM

Becoming A Better Sinner, an exhibition of new works by Ruth Chase, will open at her home studio during The Open Studio Art Tour on Saturday, October 4. A series of drawings in charcoal on wood and paper, Ruth’s charcoal drawings are a mix of surreal elements using words and symbols. The work confronts belief systems and values.
“As a young girl I mostly listened to my own voice over anyone else’s.  I still felt guilty, but did it anyway.  I remember the look on my mother’s face when I came home with fuchsia hair.  She said to me,  “Where’s my little girl?”  Yep, I felt like a sinner.”
